An Era Of Peace
The images above, kindly donated by the Frith Collection, come from the 1950's. An era when the aftermath of war started to give way to prosperity. Employment far more available, a consumer society beginning to emerge, even in Langley.
Tradition Preserved
Those who were around at the time tell us that Langley did not dive into modernity, a slow adaption. Many villages did carry on as before to a degree, cars absent in any volume, roles often maintained. Even so, the new world did arrive.
Visible Change
Compare scenes you see above to Langley today, recognisable in many ways but so are differences. Change creeps up us and recent years have seen the speed cranked up. Even so, elements of the spirit from that bygone time can still be felt.
